Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician II to maintain and restore telecom services across assigned territories. This field-based role starts from a home base with a company-provided vehicle, traveling to multiple network sites to keep reliability high and service up.

You will troubleshoot and repair network equipment, perform OTDR testing, maintain site facilities, and document work using Outlook/Teams. A high school diploma, 2 years of field tech experience, and a valid driver’s license are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years in telecommunications, network infrastructure, or field technical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing network equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic networks.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and network diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently across multiple field locations.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with ability to operate a company vehicle and travel.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours service issues.

Responsibilities

• Respond to network outages and service restoration activities to maintain service availability.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications and network infrastructure equipment.
• Perform OTDR and other network testing activities to identify and resolve service issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on network facilities and supporting infrastructure.
• Provide smart hands support at remote network sites.
• Maintain site equipment, including HVAC systems, generators, and related infrastructure.
• Accurately document work activities and utilize Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook and Teams, for communication and administrative tasks.
• Support overall network reliability, uptime, and customer service continuity across assigned territories.
