Job summary

Western States Equipment Company seeks a field service technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment at customer sites. You will interpret diagnostic results, perform repairs, and document all service activities. This role requires CDL with air brake and the ability to travel to customer locations.

The technician will work in the field, adhere to safety policies, and provide excellent customer communication while meeting time guidelines for repairs.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or technical training preferred.
• Five years experience in diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment.
• Caterpillar experience preferred.
• Must own required tools.
• Must have a current CDL with air brake experience and acceptable driving record. Must meet DOT requirements.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Responsibilities

• Manages customer base and assigned territory. Schedules all customer work. Generates new business and maintains customer relations.
• Conducts machine performance and diagnostic tests, interprets results, and decides extent of repair.
• Performs field or on-site repairs and may work overtime or overnight as needed.
• Repairs and diagnoses Caterpillar machine systems, and troubleshoots new equipment models.
• Completes service reports and paperwork; communicates issues and status to customers.
