Job summary

IEM seeks a Field Service Technician II to perform start-up, commissioning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and service for IEM equipment in the field. You will be a trusted customer contact and coordinate with Project Managers, contractors, and internal teams to drive successful deployments.

The role demands strong diagnostic skills, minimal supervision, rigorous safety and documentation, and the ability to mentor Level I technicians.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in power distribution systems and related equipment commissioning preferred.
• 1+ years of experience supporting switchgear start-up and commissioning required.
• Minimum 1-3 years of related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and power distribution systems required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform start-up, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of IEM equipment.
• Install and modify electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies.
• Attend project meetings and support coordination with contractors, clients, Project Managers, and internal IEM teams.
• Analyze system failures, identify root causes, and determine corrective actions for moderately complex issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control wiring, and networking equipment.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, facilities, engineering to resolve field issues.
• Accurately document service activities, root cause analysis, corrective actions, parts usage, and follow-up items.
• Assist with training, mentoring, or shadowing Level I technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
