Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a Field Service Technician I for the ORD area on the Evening Shift. This full-time role requires travel to locations around the Chicago metro, including ORD, to install, repair and maintain equipment and provide customer training.

The ideal candidate brings 1–3 years of field repair experience, an associate degree or related trade cert, and strong communications with a customer-focused, team-oriented mindset. TSA background may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or military training.
• Minimum 1–3 years experience in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical or electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain field equipment; provide customer training.
• Document inspections and maintenance; submit paperwork promptly.
• Order, install and return parts; manage repair parts cycle time.
• Review logs for open issues and prepare customer reports.
• Support service sales opportunities and promote revenue programs.
• Ensure tools and test equipment are calibrated and maintained.
