Job summary

Smiths Detection, Inc. is seeking a field service professional to travel around the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, installing, repairing and maintaining equipment at customer sites.

The role requires strong communication and a customer-focused mindset, with 1–3 years of field experience and the ability to travel on short notice. You will train customers, document work, manage parts and support service sales opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree/related trade certification in electrical, electronic or mechanical fields; military training acceptable.
• Minimum 1–3 years in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems.
• Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus; willing to travel on short notice.
• Supervision of others on projects may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment in the field; provide customer training as required.
• Document inspections, maintenance, repairs and submit paperwork promptly.
• Order, install and return parts; manage parts cycle time.
• Review logs for open issues and prepare reports for customers as needed.
• Participate in service sales opportunities and support revenue programs.
• Ensure tools and test equipment are maintained and calibrated.
