Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a field service technician to travel throughout the Chicago metro area, including ORD, to install, repair and maintain equipment. You will train customers, document inspections, and support service sales opportunities while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires 1–3 years in field service, strong communication, and willingness to travel at short notice; SSI vetting may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or related trade certification; 1–3 years equivalent work experience accepted.
• Computer literacy; proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to learn specialized software.
• 1–3 years experience troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment in the field; provide customer training as required.
• Document inspections, maintenance and repairs; submit paperwork timely.
