Job summary

Lam Research in Austin seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, repair, and service Lam’s semiconductor systems at customer sites, ensuring peak performance and minimal downtime.

You will lead on-site activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and travel as needed to support customers worldwide, upholding safety, quality, and service excellence within a dynamic, high-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years experience OR Master’s degree with 6+ years OR equivalent work experience.
• Experience with installation, maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.
• Able to work in a clean room environment with PPE or cleanroom suit.
• Frequent physical tasks and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site repair, maintenance, and installation services for Lam’s complex systems.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
• Stay current on Lam products and semiconductor capital equipment through training and certification.
• Lead field modifications, maintain records, and coordinate activities with customers.
• Serve as a Lam ambassador, delivering high customer satisfaction and trust.
• Coordinate with customers at management and engineer levels and run meetings.
• Discuss opportunities and challenges openly with customers to build trust.
• Provide technical instruction and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Coach and delegate to ensure timely project completion.
