Job summary

ZEISS Group seeks a Field Service Engineer Level 2 in the Pittsburgh area to install, service and maintain advanced equipment for local customers. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and complete preventive maintenance while delivering excellent service and technical guidance.

The role requires a 4-year degree or technical certificate and 3–5 years of experience, plus a valid US driver's license. Occasional travel is expected, with focus on safety and quality in customer environments.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or technical certificate in technical/scientific discipline or related military electronics experience.
• 3-5 years of professional work experience.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Safety requirements for BSL 1–3 environments and specimen handling.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot problems in software, electronics, optics, high voltage, high vacuum, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain assigned ZEISS equipment with attention to detail.
• Troubleshoot issues and diagnose quickly to complete repairs in a single visit where possible.
• Complete preventive maintenance for contract customers within required timelines.
• Provide accurate quotations and update customers on status within 24 hours.
• Escalate unresolved issues to ensure rapid resolution and customer satisfaction.
• Educate customers on upgrades and pass leads to appropriate channels.
