Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, is hiring an Outside Sales Rep in the Power/HVAC division. You’ll be the voice and initial contact, renting and selling specialty engineered power supply and climate control solutions such as silenced diesel generators and air-conditioning equipment.

You’ll use consultative selling to understand client needs, build relationships, and drive new accounts while supporting existing customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of sales experience.
• Knowledge of construction or related equipment preferred; strong sales acumen and achievement record welcomed.
• High ability to sell complex products and customer solutions.
• Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to size, quote, install and maintain moderate projects.
• Strong negotiation and customer service skills.
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic systems.
• Strong planning, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Increase revenue for the branch through quality customer service and product knowledge.
• Establish new rental accounts via phone and in-person visits.
• Present a full range of turnkey services to customers.
• Collaborate with technical staff on site assessments and solutions.
• Inform existing accounts about other products and services.
• Deliver formal sales presentations to customers.
• Educate customers on equipment via demonstrations and training.
• Follow up on invoices and payments with operations staff.
• Report sales activity using Salesforce and other tools.
• Handle other duties as needed.
