Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are market leaders in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Datacom). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The position is remote but based in the Southeast.

SUMMARY: Our success depends on our ability to solve cutting-edge problems related to high bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with these companies, relying on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to foster ongoing partnerships.

As a Sales Engineer, you will interface with external customers and internal teams (product development, marketing, applications) to sell and promote Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts, including OEM customers and distributors. Your activities will include design win efforts and channel management. You will develop strategies to differentiate our products and solutions, expand our customer base, and increase penetration in existing accounts, including key global accounts. This role provides valuable insight into Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide sales leadership, collaborating closely with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  2. Promote and sell Amphenol products to existing customers and new prospects.
  3. Manage large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across a global sales channel.
  4. Implement our Networking, IT, and Datacom strategy across North America, interfacing with Sales Reps, Distributors, and teams in Mexico & Asia.
  5. Identify interconnect opportunities/applications and collaborate with customer engineering teams to design in new products.
  6. Develop and execute sales plans and growth strategies for your territory and customers.
  7. Achieve sales quotas through new design wins and channel management.
  8. Encourage existing and potential customers to increase product content in their designs.
  9. Support technical aspects of the sales cycle, including marketing support for product development and implementation.
  10. Address complex interconnect problems and technical inquiries, providing excellent customer service.
  11. Track orders and revenue per customer.
  12. Build rapport and support customers with information on samples, delivery, drawings, specifications, quality, and credit issues.
  13. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the market and competition within your territory.
  14. Stay informed of new products and relevant industry information.
  15. Conduct regular customer visits and travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or Engineering with a technical background.
  2. Business/Marketing aptitude.
  3. Knowledge of the interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, or lighting is a plus.
  4. Minimum of 3 years in field sales and applications or related energy market experience.
  5. Understanding of international business practices is advantageous.

  1. Strong sales negotiation skills for technical design wins, vendor approval, contracts, and partnerships.
  2. Technical aptitude with the ability to acquire extensive product and application knowledge and provide solutions to customer challenges.
  3. Self-motivated with a drive to identify and pursue new customers and markets.
  4. Effective communication skills across engineering and managerial levels.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication for high-level customer service and relationship building.
  6. Organizational skills to prioritize and meet strategic objectives.
  7. Leadership skills to identify and drive new opportunities in a global account environment.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
