Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are market leaders in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Datacom). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The position is remote but based in the Southeast.

SUMMARY: Our success depends on our ability to solve cutting-edge problems related to high-bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with our clients and rely on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to foster ongoing partnerships.

As a Sales Engineer, you will interface with external customers and internal teams—product development, marketing, and applications—to sell and promote all Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts, targeting OEM customers and/or distributors through successful design wins and channel management. You will develop strategies to differentiate our products from competitors, expand our customer base, and increase penetration at existing accounts, including key global accounts. This role offers excellent insight into the Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide sales leadership and collaborate closely with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  • Promote and sell Amphenol products to established customers and develop new prospects.
  • Own large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across a global sales channel.
  • Manage our Networking, IT, and Datacom strategies across North America, interfacing with Sales Reps, Distributors, and our Mexico & Asia teams.
  • Identify interconnect opportunities/applications of Amphenol products for clients and collaborate with their engineering teams to design in new products.
  • Develop and implement sales plans and growth strategies for your territory and customers.
  • Meet and exceed sales quotas through new design wins and managing the sales channel.
  • Motivate existing and potential customers to increase product content in their designs.
  • Support technical aspects of the sales cycle, including marketing support for product development and implementation.
  • Provide customer service to resolve complex interconnect problems and technical inquiries.
  • Track orders and revenue per customer.
  • Build rapport and support customers with information on samples, delivery, drawings, specifications, quality, and credit issues.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the market and competition in your territory.
  • Stay informed about new products and industry developments.
  • Conduct regular customer visits.
  • Travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or Engineering with a technical background.
  • Business/Marketing aptitude.
  • Knowledge of the interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, or lighting is a plus.
  • 3+ years of field sales and applications experience, or related experience in energy markets.
  • Understanding of international business practices is a plus.

  • Strong sales skills for negotiating design wins, vendor approvals, contracts, and partnerships.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to learn product and application details and provide solutions for customer challenges.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to identify and pursue new customers and markets.
  • Effective communication skills across engineering and managerial levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication for high-level customer service and relationship building.
  • Organizational skills for prioritizing and planning to meet objectives.
  • Leadership skills to identify and drive new opportunities in a global account environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
