Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are market leaders in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Datacom). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The position is remote but based in the Southeast.

Summary: Our success depends on solving cutting-edge problems related to high bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with our customers and rely on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to foster ongoing partnerships.

The Sales Engineer will interface with external customers and internal teams (product development, marketing, applications) to sell and promote Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts, including OEMs and distributors. Responsibilities include designing strategies to differentiate our solutions, expanding our customer base, and increasing penetration at key global accounts. This role provides insights into Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide sales leadership and collaborate with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  2. Promote and sell Amphenol products to established customers and new prospects.
  3. Own large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across a global sales channel.
  4. Manage Networking, IT, and Datacom strategies across North America, interfacing with Sales Reps, Distribution, and teams in Mexico & Asia.
  5. Identify interconnect opportunities and work with customer engineering teams to design in new products.
  6. Develop and implement sales plans and growth strategies for the territory and customers.
  7. Meet and exceed sales quotas through new design wins and channel management.
  8. Motivate existing and potential customers to increase product content in designs.
  9. Support technical aspects of the sales cycle and marketing efforts.
  10. Provide customer service for technical inquiries, order tracking, and issue resolution.
  11. Build rapport and support customers with samples, delivery info, drawings, and quality issues.
  12. Understand market trends and competition in your territory.
  13. Stay informed about new products and industry developments.
  14. Conduct regular customer visits and travel as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  2. Business/Marketing aptitude.
  3. Knowledge of interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, lighting is a plus.
  4. 3+ years of field sales and applications experience or related experience in energy markets.
  5. Understanding of international business practices is a plus.

  1. Strong sales negotiation skills for technical design wins, vendor approvals, contracts, and partnerships.
  2. Technical aptitude to acquire product and application knowledge and solve customer design challenges.
  3. Self-motivated to identify and pursue new customers and markets.
  4. Effective communication across engineering and managerial functions.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills for customer service and relationship building.
  6. Organizational skills to prioritize and meet strategic objectives.
  7. Leadership abilities to identify and drive new opportunities in global accounts.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
