Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are leaders in high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Datacom). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The position is remote but based in the Southeast.

Our success depends on our ability to solve cutting-edge problems related to high bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with our clients, and our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams play a crucial role in fostering ongoing partnerships.

As a Sales Engineer, you will interface with external customers and internal teams—product development, marketing, and applications—to sell and promote Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts. This includes working with OEM customers and distributors, focusing on design wins and channel management. You will develop strategies to differentiate our solutions, expand our customer base, and increase penetration at key accounts. This role provides valuable insights into Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide sales leadership and collaborate with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  2. Promote and sell Amphenol products to existing and new prospects.
  3. Manage large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across the global sales channel.
  4. Oversee Networking, IT, and Datacom strategies across North America, working with Sales Reps, Distributors, and teams in Mexico & Asia.
  5. Identify interconnect opportunities and collaborate with customer engineering teams to design in new products.
  6. Develop and implement sales plans and growth strategies for your territory and clients.
  7. Achieve sales quotas through new design wins and channel management.
  8. Encourage existing and potential customers to increase product content in their designs.
  9. Support technical aspects of the sales cycle and marketing efforts.
  10. Address complex interconnect issues and technical inquiries.
  11. Track orders and revenue per customer.
  12. Build rapport and provide customer support regarding samples, delivery, specifications, quality, and credit issues.
  13. Understand the market and competition thoroughly.
  14. Stay informed about new products and industry trends.
  15. Conduct regular customer visits and travel as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering with a technical background.
  • Business/Marketing aptitude.
  • Knowledge of the interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, or lighting is a plus.
  • 3+ years of field sales and applications experience, preferably in energy markets.
  • Understanding of international business practices is advantageous.

  • Strong sales negotiation skills for technical design wins, vendor approval, contracts, and partnerships.
