Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are leaders in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Data Center). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The role is remote, based in the Southeast.

SUMMARY: Our success depends on solving cutting-edge problems related to high-bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with our clients and rely on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to foster ongoing partnerships.

As a Sales Engineer, you will interact with external customers and internal teams—product development, marketing, and applications—to sell and promote all Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts, including OEMs and distributors. Success involves design wins and channel management. You will develop strategies to differentiate our solutions, expand our customer base, and grow penetration at existing accounts, including global key accounts. This role offers insight into Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide sales leadership and collaborate with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  • Promote and sell Amphenol products to existing customers and new prospects.
  • Manage large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across a global sales channel.
  • Oversee Networking, IT, and Datacom strategies across North America, liaising with Sales Reps, Distributors, and teams in Mexico & Asia.
  • Identify interconnect opportunities and work with customers' engineering teams to develop new products.
  • Develop and execute sales plans and growth strategies for your territory and customers.
  • Achieve sales targets through new design wins and channel management.
  • Encourage customers to increase product content in their designs.
  • Support technical aspects of sales, including marketing and product development support.
  • Address complex interconnect issues and technical inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor orders and revenue per customer.
  • Build rapport and assist customers with samples, delivery, drawings, specifications, quality, and credit issues.
  • Understand the market landscape and competitors within your territory.
  • Stay informed about new products and industry trends.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering with a technical background.
  • Business/Marketing aptitude.
  • Knowledge of the interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, or lighting is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years in field sales and applications or related energy market experience.
  • Understanding of international business practices is advantageous.

SKILLS:

  • Strong sales negotiation skills for technical design wins, vendor approvals, contracts, and partnerships.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to learn product and application details and provide customer solutions.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills across engineering and managerial levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication for customer service and relationship building.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize and meet strategic objectives.
  • Leadership qualities to assess and drive opportunities in a global account environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
