Field Sales Engineer - Commercial Products Groups

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are market leaders in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Strategic Market (Networking/IT Datacom). Our products enable the electronics revolution and are key for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our Focused Markets team. The position is remote but based in the Southeast region.

SUMMARY: Our success depends on our ability to solve advanced problems related to high-bandwidth signal transmission. We value our relationships with our clients and rely on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to nurture these partnerships.

As a Sales Engineer, you will interface with external customers and internal teams—product development, marketing, and applications—to promote all Amphenol products within an assigned territory and accounts, including OEMs and distributors. Your role involves strategic differentiation, customer base expansion, and increasing penetration at key global accounts. This position offers insight into Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide sales leadership and collaborate with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
  2. Promote and sell Amphenol products to existing customers and new prospects.
  3. Manage large multimillion-dollar OEM accounts and drive activity across a global sales channel.
  4. Implement strategies for Networking, IT, and Datacom markets across North America, coordinating with Sales Reps, Distributors, and teams in Mexico & Asia.
  5. Identify interconnect opportunities and collaborate with customer engineering teams to incorporate new products.
  6. Develop and execute sales plans and growth strategies for your territory and clients.
  7. Achieve sales quotas through new design wins and channel management.
  8. Encourage existing and potential customers to increase product content in their designs.
  9. Support technical aspects during the sales cycle, including marketing support for product development and implementation.
  10. Address complex interconnect issues and technical inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.
  11. Monitor orders and revenue per customer.
  12. Build rapport and support customers with information on samples, delivery, drawings, specifications, quality, and credit issues.
  13. Gain comprehensive knowledge of the market and competitors within your territory.
  14. Stay informed about new products and relevant industry information.
  15. Conduct regular customer visits.
  16. Travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or Engineering with a technical background.
  2. Business/Marketing aptitude.
  3. Knowledge of the interconnect solutions industry; experience in energy storage, eMobility, or lighting is a plus.
  4. Minimum of 3 years in field sales and applications or related energy markets experience.
  5. Understanding of international business practices is advantageous.

  1. Strong sales negotiation skills, including design wins, vendor approval, contracts, and customer partnerships.
  2. Technical aptitude with the ability to learn product and application details and solve customer design challenges.
  3. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new markets and customers.
  4. Effective communication skills across engineering and managerial levels.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication for high-level customer service and relationship building.
  6. Organizational skills to prioritize and meet strategic objectives.
  7. Leadership qualities to identify and develop opportunities in a global account environment.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
