Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist II for Personal Lines to respond to major disasters nationwide. You will conduct on-site inspections, assess damages, determine coverage, and manage the full lifecycle of claims with priority on timely, empathetic service.

This field-based role requires up to 80% travel, often on short notice, and the ability to work independently in challenging environments while maintaining regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• State licensing where required; Xactimate Level 1 and Level 2 certifications within 1–2 years of start date.
• Three to five years of related property claims experience or equivalent experience.
• Ability to safely access and inspect rooftops, including ladders and roofs up to 8/12 pitch.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.
• Partner with internal teams (e.g., Special Investigations, Subrogation) as needed.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions.
• Provide proactive updates to customers throughout the claims process.
