Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist II for National Catastrophe Personal Lines to respond to major disasters nationwide. This field-based role requires travel up to 80% and involves on-site inspections, applying policy coverages, and guiding customers through the claims process with empathy.

You will manage claims from start to finish, pursue certifications (Xactimate Level 1/2), and work independently in CAT environments while delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Experience in field/property claims handling or adjusting
• Proficiency with Xactimate and prior estimate writing
• Ability to manage varying claim complexity from start to finish
• Experience on-site in catastrophe (CAT) environments
• Strong customer service orientation in high-stress situations
• Comfortable working independently in the field with long deployments

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using tools like Xactimate
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation
• Special Investigations, Subrogation as needed
• Maintain regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process
