Job summary

Ericsson Inc. in the United States is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance and operation of optical transport in customer data centers.

This role interfaces with customers and vendors, audits work for quality, and ensures high standards across installations, migrations, remediation, break/fix, and remote hands services. Travel to non-home market sites may be required up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of data center operations experience with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on with connectorized fiber cabling (LC, single-mode/multi-mode, fan-outs).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time.
• Strong written and spoken English for customer-facing communications.

Responsibilities

• Audit work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools and in-person, delivering clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration.
• Perform and supervise optical testing using power meters, light sources, OTDRs.
• Execute procedures, vendor docs, and network diagrams accurately.
• Read cut sheets and design docs to ensure proper port connections and cabling.
