Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer in the United States to lead optical transport and infrastructure within customer data centers. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation while interfacing with customers and vendors. Travel up to 50% may be required.

The role emphasizes hands-on fiber cabling, optical testing, and adherence to safety and quality standards in high-availability environments.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling and structured cabling.
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to travel to non-home markets up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide immediate feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers through ticketing tools or in-person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation, and migration activities across data center optics and transport.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using tools like OTDRs, power meters, and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting and executing MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and design docs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
