Job summary

Ericsson seeks a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport and infrastructure, interfacing with customers and vendors to uphold high quality.

Qualifications

• Team lead experience.
• Strong command of written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills using MS Office.
• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single-mode/multi-mode, LC, fan-outs, structured cabling).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in high-availability environments.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities in data center environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by following Procedures (MoPs), engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure proper port connections and cable management.
