Job summary

Ericsson Inc. in the United States is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport in customer data centers and co-locations.

You will travel up to 50% to non-home market sites, coordinating with vendors and customers to ensure high-quality, safe, and reliable service. You will audit field work, interpret MoPs and network diagrams, and perform optical testing with meters, OTDRs, and test sets, delivering concise reports and ensuring

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data center ops or similar with direct customer interaction.
• Strong written and spoken English for customer-facing work.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling (single/multi-mode, LC, fan-outs).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to travel up to 50% to non-home market sites.

Responsibilities

• Audit daily work in customer data centers and give feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools and in person with clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migrations.
• Conduct and supervise optical testing using meters and test sets (OTDRs, VFLs, etc.).
• Deliver services interpreting Methods of Procedure, docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
