Job summary

Ericsson Inc. in the United States is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead optical transport in customer data centers and co-locations.

You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation while coordinating with customers and Ericsson’s vendors to uphold high-quality standards. This role requires hands-on fiber expertise (single/multi-mode, LC), experience with optical testing, and the ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time to deliver secure,

Qualifications

3–15 years of data center operations experience with customer interaction.
Hands-on fiber optic cabling experience (LC, single-mode and multi-mode).
Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
Ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback.
Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports.
Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migrations.
Perform/read optical tests using power meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs and network diagrams.
Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections.
