Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead on-site work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport infrastructure and act as the customer-facing liaison with Ericsson vendors.

You will audit field work, guide technicians, perform optical testing, and interpret MoPs and network diagrams. Travel to non-home markets up to extended periods may be required.

Qualifications

• Team leadership experience with customer-facing teams.
• Strong written and verbal English for customer communications.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills using MS Office.
• 3–15 years in data center operations or similar environment with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling and connectors.
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Audit daily work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers through tickets or in person; provide clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, and migrations.
• Conduct/ supervise optical testing using meters, sources, OTDRs, test sets.
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and design docs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
