Job summary

WM is seeking an Operations Manager Trainee to lead onboarding, development, coaching, and performance management of drivers and helpers. The role spends most of the day in the field and builds strong relationships with frontline employees to support onboarding and daily operations.

You will conduct root cause investigations, mentor staff, and document regulatory records, while guiding career progression and safety adherence across operations.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma with 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Driver's License valid upon hire.
• Preferred: completion of WM Operations Manager Trainee program.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with front-line employees.
• Spends the majority of the day in the field with frontline employees.
• Ensure new frontline employees have tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily duties.
• Meet with new frontline employees daily to support onboarding and consistent communication.
• Provide timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employees.
• Review best practices to enhance daily performance and understand career goals.
• Identify improvement opportunities and address issues with frontline staff.
• Lead by example to emphasize safety and the WM Way.
• Conduct root cause investigations for injuries and incidents and ensure retraining.
• Document and maintain records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation.
• Review and audit route operation documentation daily and follow up as needed.
• Visit customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues.
