Job summary

WM seeks an Operations Manager Trainee to lead onboarding, development, coaching, and performance management for drivers and helpers. The role spends most of the day in the field with frontline staff, building positive relationships and modeling WM Way safety standards.

You will conduct daily touchpoints, review best practices, and document safety and route operations, including regulatory records. This position supports continuous improvement at multiple sites in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Onboard, develop, coach, mentor, and manage performance of drivers and helpers.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with frontline employees and spend significant time in the field.
• Provide timely and consistent feedback, and conduct daily onboarding and support for new frontline staff.
• Review best practices to enhance daily performance and progress toward career goals.
• Identify improvement opportunities and lead safety, root-cause investigations, and retraining as needed.
• Document and maintain records required by regulatory agencies (e.g., DOT) and review route operations daily.
