Job summary

Wachter is seeking a self-motivated Low Voltage Service Technician to support service and installation projects at client sites across the United States. You will install and troubleshoot cabling infrastructure, run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, and ensure safety and neat cable management.

The ideal candidate has CAT5e and fiber optic experience, plus knowledge of color codes and the ability to work in cramped spaces.

Qualifications

• Data Cable Technician with CAT5e, fiber optic, and network experience.
• Industry certifications (BICSI, Systimax, Panduit, Beldon, Corning) are a huge plus.
• Shifts vary; early mornings, nights, weekends; travel and on-call work may be required.
• Flexible and willing to work on-call, early morning, day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Regional travel within a 2–4 hour radius; occasional longer trips with hotel stays.
• Experience in low voltage cabling, smart hands network replacement, telephony, CCTV, and POS is a plus.
• Excellent customer relationships and written/spoken communication skills.
• Knowledge of identifying independent colors and learning color codes.
• Ability to work in cramped spaces and operate a BOOM or scissor lift.

Responsibilities

• Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cabling infrastructure.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
• Ensure cables are neatly tied and bundled per safety regulations.
• Install cable support structures such as J-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
• Conduct tests to ensure newly installed cable systems and devices are operational.
• Troubleshoot issues with the cable network.
