Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Technician to install and test Cat6 and fiber cabling across large warehouse facilities. This role requires coordinating with foremen, leading small crews, and performing skilled work at height with extensive travel.

Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of low-voltage or data cabling experience.
• Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills.
• Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working at height and in large warehouse environments.
• Ability to work independently or support small crews.
• Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets.
• Basic telecommunications tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work 50-60 hour weeks.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling (single- mode and multi-mode).
• Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Lead and support small crews of 2-4 technicians as a working lead when assigned.
• Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray.
• Operate boom and scissor lifts (40+ ft work).
• Troubleshoot cabling and system issues.
• Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards.
• Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman.
• Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements.
