Job summary

Mediacom Communications is hiring a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician) to install and service cable TV and broadband at customer homes. You will drive a company van, handle installations, changes of service, and various customer requests in a fast-paced field setting.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• General level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge.
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in high or tight spaces.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Make customer drop installations complete from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in both single and multiple unit dwellings.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrades/downgrades of service.
• Analyze picture quality and judges' acceptability of picture delivered after installation of cable service.
• Work with connectors, fasteners and wire using hand tools.
• Use CATV hand and power tools in performance of job duties.
• Read signal levels with field strength meter; adjust levels as needed; install tap-off devices.
• Climb poles and ladders; lift up to 100 lbs.; work in confined spaces.
• Read general drop system layouts from blueprints.
• Drive company vehicles and perform vehicle upkeep.
• Generate revenue through product information and promotions.
