Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist I to perform on-site installations of cable and broadband services, drive a company van, and work in customers’ homes. You will learn and perform duties including service changes, outlet installations, and handling special requests during installation.

As a Field Technician, you will also learn to evaluate signal quality, use standard tools, and complete required paperwork while maintaining safety standards and FCC compliance.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
• General level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge.
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in high or tight spaces.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) complete from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in both single and multiple unit dwellings.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrade/downgrade services.
• Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture delivered after installation of cable service.
• Work with connectors, fasteners, wire, and hand tools; use CATV hand and power tools.
• Complete paperwork functions as prescribed by system management.
• Read signal levels with field strength meter and adjust levels as needed.
• Climb poles, ladders, or other structures as required; lift up to 100 lbs.
• Drive company vehicles and perform vehicle upkeep; promote additional services.
• Provide customer education on FCC rules and company policies.
• Perform installations and changes while adhering to codes and safety practices.
