Job summary
Construction Material Testing in the Houston area seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo on concrete and industrial projects, capture data on site, and deliver processed meshes, profiles, and CAD-ready files that the client can act on. You will scan rebar mats, embeds, corroded pipes, and machine parts, verify data on site, and generate deviation maps and reports.
The role includes travel to regional hubs, safety training, and opportunities to advance into lead technician
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
- Knowledge of Artec Studio or similar software.
- Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural drawings.
- Comfortable on active construction sites and able to carry equipment.
- Valid driver's license with clean record.
- Willingness to travel to regional hubs.
- Experience with scan-to-CAD is a plus.
- Certifications such as ACI/ICC are a plus (sponsorship available).
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute handheld 3D scans before pours and for damaged structures.
- Control drift on large objects using reference features.
- Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
- Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, export formats.
- Produce deviation maps and coordinate reports against drawings.
- Create scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering.
- Document procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
- Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
- Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
