Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to perform handheld scans using Artec Leo, process data, and deliver CAD-ready meshes and reports. You’ll work on projects from rebar mats to corroded pipes, ensuring data integrity on site and in the studio.

You will train on our capture procedures, drift-control methods, and reporting templates, with opportunities to advance into regional roles or project management as the line grows. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects (Artec Leo, Eva, Space Spider, HandySCAN, FARO, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
• Ability to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.
• Certifications sponsorship for ACI/NICET/ICC a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and embedded components before concrete placement and other demanding environments.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, and anchor bolt coordinate reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering or fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts; travel to regional hubs as assigned.
