Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo on challenging site projects, from rebar mats to corroded piping, and to deliver ready-to-use scan data. You will scan, process in Artec Studio, and produce meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD files, while ensuring data integrity on active jobsites and coordinating access and safety.

The role requires on-site work, valid driver's license, ability to travel regionally, and willingness to obtain

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and able to read structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record.
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.
• ACI, NICET, or ICC certifications a plus; sponsorship available.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures before concrete pours.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records in order.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
