Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate Artec Leo handheld scanners on concrete, piping, and metal structures across the region. You will capture data on site, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports for client use.

You must be able to travel, work on active construction sites, and maintain equipment. Training and opportunities for advancement are provided as the line grows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider; or equivalents) on real projects.
• Knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh processing, registration, and export.
• Familiar with CAD and reading drawings.
• Able to work on active construction sites and travel as needed.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
• Willing to travel with equipment.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.
• ACI, NICET, or ICC certifications a plus; sponsorship available.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, failed and damaged structures, corroded pipe and tanks, fabricated steel and precast, machine parts, and modular units.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features, tape-measure backbones, and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks, or hand clean meshes to the modeling team.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep the scanner, batteries, and calibration records in order.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
