Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained handheld 3D scanning technician to operate Artec Leo and similar scanners on diverse on-site projects. You will capture data, validate it on site, and process using Artec Studio to deliver meshes, point clouds, and CAD-ready files.

Responsibilities cover planning scans, drift control on large objects, on-site verification, and producing reports and scans to client-ready formats.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, Space Spider; or equivalent) on real projects.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, failed and damaged structures, corroded pipe and tanks, fabricated steel and precast, machine parts, and modular units.
Control drift on large objects with reference features, tape-measure backbones, and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks, or hand clean meshes to the modeling team.
Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Keep the scanner, batteries, and calibration records in order.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
