Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a hands-on 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, Space Spider) on real projects, process data in Artec Studio, and deliver meshes and CAD-ready files. You will work on active sites, verify data on-site, and coordinate with plant contacts.

We offer travel to regional hubs, build scan-to-CAD solids, and produce deviation maps and reports for clients while gaining a path toward leadership in the growing scanning service line.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and industrial plants; able to carry equipment and travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, failed and damaged structures, corroded pipe and tanks, fabricated steel and precast, machine parts, and modular units.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
