Job summary

Forged Fiber 37 is hiring a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician in Auburn, WA to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables for construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration across our networks.

Responsibilities include reading prints, performing splices, testing with OTDR and meters, and coordinating with crews; strong attention to detail and safety are required. Expect overtime, outdoor work, and physical effort.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of relevant fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant or related experience (or equivalent training).
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, design maps, diagrams/schematics, permits or any other documents and/or work orders; strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with team members, contractors, and multiple agencies.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to use electronic devices for field documentation and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects and emergencies.
• Troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults; document tests.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial/buried networks.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing; repair to restore service.
• Read diagrams and design maps to complete work accurately.
• Coordinate with crews/partners to resolve outages and meet schedules.
• Use devices for work orders, diagnostics, and communication.
