Job summary

Forged Fiber 37 is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration efforts. You will read prints, use OTDRs, and coordinate with crews to keep projects on schedule.

Role requires outdoor work in all weather, lifting up to 75 lbs, and potential overtime. Desirable candidates have 2+ years in telecom outside-plant and proficient splice equipment handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience.
• Experience with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams and maps.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaboration capability.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and field documentation devices.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Outdoor work in all weather and varied terrain.
• Work in confined spaces with safety practices.
• Climb and work at elevations over 18 feet.
• Physically demanding: stand/walk, lift up to 75 lbs.
• Overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, standby, call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects.
• Troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults using OTDR and meters.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing.
• Place and test jumpers in cabinets and perform panel audits.
• Complete aerial and underground work including manholes.
• Read construction prints, splice diagrams, permits; follow orders.
• Coordinate with crews to resolve outages and meet schedules.
• Use electronic devices for work orders and documentation.
• Follow OSHA and safety requirements.
• Learn/perform OLT work for RT/CO facilities.
