Job summary

Forged Fiber is hiring a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables for construction and restoration projects.

Responsibilities include fault diagnosis with OTDR, power meters, and identifiers; preparing splice cases; and coordinating with crews to maintain schedules and ensure safety. Columbia/WA-based role eligible for full-time employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/OSP or related experience.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Read/interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, maps, and diagrams; strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with teams and agencies.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) for field documentation.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; outdoor work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and test fiber optic cable for construction projects and restorations.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR, power meter, and related tools; document results.
• Prepare and repair splice cases across aerial, buried, or handhole installations.
• Perform aerial and underground work, read maps and permits, and ensure route integrity.
• Coordinate with construction crews and partners to resolve outages and meet schedules.
