Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction, operations, and restoration projects in Caldwell, ID. The role requires reading construction prints, using OTDRs and splice equipment, and collaborating with crews to maintain schedule integrity.

Applicants should have 2+ years of fiber/splicing experience, a valid driver's license, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
• 2+ years of relevant fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, design maps, diagrams/schematics, permits or other documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, optical power meter, and related tools.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial, buried, and manholes.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing and restore service.
• Coordinate with construction crews and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules.
• Use company devices for work orders, diagnostics, and documentation.
• Follow OSHA and company policies and read As-Builts.
