Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a skilled Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across construction and restoration projects. This role supports critical networks and requires safety-conscious, detail-oriented work in outdoor environments.

Location in Boise, ID; you will work with OTDRs, power meters, and splicing equipment, coordinating with teams to meet project timelines while adhering to OSHA and company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience.
• Ability to read construction prints and splice diagrams.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, and related tools; document findings.
• Prepare and manage splice cases/enclosures (aerial, buried, handholes, manholes).
• Perform routine repairs to restore service and maintain route integrity.
• Read diagrams, permits, and orders to complete work accurately.
• Coordinate with crews and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules.
