Job summary

The Yay Company in Bryan is seeking a Kitchen & Service Assistant to keep the café stocked and support the Lead Cook with prep and production. You will handle labeling, staging for distribution, and be the face of Yay during lunch service and grab-and-go.

Depending on market and school, you may also pack deliveries. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where accuracy, presence with students, and anticipation are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen, café or food service.
• Strong attention to labeling, staging, and portioning accuracy.
• People-first mindset with students and service.
• Reliable and self-directed; proactive.
• Delivery readiness with valid driver’s license.
• Food handler certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Kitchen Prep Support: mise en place, keep station clean, prep ahead.
• Labeling & Staging for Distribution: label items, stage by route.
• Spoke School Packing & Delivery: pack, load, and deliver to schools, maintain temperatures.
• Lunch Distribution: assemble trays, manage pre-order pickup and on-site service.
• Grab & Go Café: stock, price visibility, checkout, stock level monitoring.
• Cleaning & Kitchen Support: clean as you go and assist with end-of-shift breakdown.
