Job summary

The Yay Company is seeking a Kitchen & Service Assistant to keep the kitchen running, stock the café, and support the Lead Cook with prep and distribution at the Concordia Preparatory School site. You will also handle labeling, staging, and, when needed, packing for delivery to spoke schools, with a focus on accuracy, speed, and student-friendly service.

Day-to-day tasks include prep support, labeling and distribution, spoke-school packing and delivery, lunch distribution, grab-and-go

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen, café, or food service environment.
• Strong attention to labeling, staging, and portioning accuracy.
• Able to interact warmly with students and staff.
• Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to obtain a certified food handler credential within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Support kitchen prep: mise en place, station cleanliness, anticipate needs.
• Labeling and staging: label items, stage by school or route, document quantities.
• Pack and deliver to spoke schools: prepare correct quantities, label, schedule route.
• Lunch distribution: assemble orders, oversee pre-orders, ensure correct delivery.
• Grab-and-go cafe: stock, price visibility, checkout, maintain shelves.
• Cleaning and kitchen support: clean as you go, end-of-shift breakdown, clock out on location.
