Job summary

Aurora Health Care seeks a professional medical coder to perform complex CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for physician services, in both office and hospital settings.

You will handle entry-level facility coding for outpatient and basic inpatient encounters, ensure compliance with CMS and AHIMA guidelines, and identify clinical queries when needed. This remote role requires strong attention to detail and familiarity with Epic or similar EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification required (AAPC or AHIMA).
• Dual certifications preferred.
• Experience in facility coding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for physician services.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient and basic inpatient encounters.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines (AAPC/AHIMA, CMS) and compliance standards.
• Identify need for formal clinical queries for documentation clarification.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity; may mentor new staff.
