Job summary

Warby Parker in Milwaukee’s Third Ward is seeking an Optometric Technician to work with our optometrists, handling pre-testing, data collection, patient flow, and training teammates on contact lens insertion/removal.

You will support eye exam appointments, maintain precise records, and help ensure HIPAA compliance in a fast-paced retail setting. Flexible collaboration with store leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Optometric Technician training program or CPOT certification.
• 1+ years of experience in a medical environment supporting doctors.
• Familiar with healthcare technology systems and equipment (EMR, retinal cameras).

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between doctor and patient and build rapport.
• Perform preliminary clinical data collection (autorefraction, visual acuity, etc.).
• Support in-person and video-assisted eye exam appointments as available.
• Train team on insertion/removal training for contact lenses.
• Assist with appointment confirmations and follow-up to ensure smooth flow.
• Manage patient flow through the eye exam process efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of collected data and prepare reports.
• Ensure HIPAA/PIPEDA compliance and company procedures.
• Keep exam room organized, stocked, and clean; calibrate equipment as needed.
• Support retail sales team as directed by Store Leader.
