Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate financial statements, and prepare payroll for clients while maintaining confidentiality and high attention to detail.

This role emphasizes strong communication with clients and vendors, and opportunities to contribute to client retention and growth within a supportive franchise network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience and knowledge of GAAP.
• Ability to interpret instructions and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience with Xero is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
