Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll, and customer service. You’ll manage transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements for clients, contributing to accurate tax filings and compliance.

In this role, you’ll work with clients and vendors, generate 1099s and W2s, and help drive client retention and growth opportunities. A strong eye for detail and confidentiality is essential, with 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to obtain certifications.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical skills and an eye for details.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
