Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You’ll post transactions, reconcile accounts and prepare payroll for diverse clients, while upholding privacy and professional standards.

You’ll work independently within a franchise office, supporting client retention and growth opportunities and communicating with clients, vendors and banking contacts to ensure accurate financial statements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and procedures.
• Ability to interpret instructions and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
