Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, prepare payroll and tax documents, and interact with clients and vendors to support growth and retention.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and strong organization to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National Bookkeeping Association bookkeeping and payroll certifications, or the ability to obtain certifications.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations.
• Confidential handling of information.
• Analytical and detail-oriented.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
