Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking an Executive Director to lead the day-to-day operations of the assigned location in the Chesapeake area. You will provide cause-driven leadership across staff supervision, program administration, fiscal management, and community relations.

The role emphasizes budgeting, member engagement, fundraising, and staff development to support the association’s mission and growth. Strong communication and collaboration with community partners are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Five or more years of successful management experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit in health & wellness or related field.
• Experience supervising staff and volunteers with budget responsibility exceeding $1 million.
• YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the assigned YMCA location and engage members.
• Lead annual giving campaigns and develop community relations.
• Develop and monitor budgets, programs, and fundraising targets.
• Recruit, train, and develop staff and volunteers; supervise exempt and non-exempt employees.
