Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking an Associate Executive Director to oversee daily operations and provide cause-driven leadership in staff supervision, volunteer management, fiscal oversight, and program administration.

The role requires strong collaboration with community organizations, effective staff development, and robust budgeting. Candidates should have a track record of growth, annual giving, and financial management in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Strong business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth, annual giving and strong financial management.
• Five or more years of successful management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency in health & wellness, business or related field.
• Bachelor's Degree in a child related field or Sports Management/Recreation/Health Sciences is preferred, or 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit with 12/18 hours in children’s subjects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations under the direction of the Executive Director.
• Provide cause-driven leadership in staff supervision, volunteer management, fiscal oversight, and program administration.
• Lead operations including staff development, budgeting, membership and program development, marketing and public relations, and board/volunteer development.
• Establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
• Maintain effective relationships with senior leadership, peers, and staff; respond to emergencies when needed.
